The problem the NFL faces is accurately judging players based on their athletic ability and whether it contributes to NFL success. The best way athletic ability is measured for the NFL is through RAS scores. RAS stands for Relative Athletic Score. RAS shows either a past or present NFL player and NFL draft prospect's athletic measurements in relation to their position group. The simple explanation for RAS is that it is a relative score that can show any of the ten measurements on a scale of 0-10, where 5.00 is always the average for that position group. Therefore, the data being used is divided equally above and below the 5.00 average, where above is a High RAS and below is a Low RAS. RAS is a valid way to measure a players athletic abilities and if it will lead to success at the next level.
